Barbara Ann Shortt

Barbara Ann “Barb” Shortt, age 64, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 at a local Richlands hospital. She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Daniel G. Robinette and Alice Francis Stevens Robinette. Barbara was a 1973 graduate of Richlands High School and worked for many years as a caregiver for the elderly. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a lifelong resident of the area and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was of the Jehovah Witness faith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Nathan Todd Shortt and brother, Larry Robinette. Those that remain to carry on her loving spirit are her: Loving husband of 45 years, Steve Allen Shortt, who said on Sunday morning, “When I woke up with you, I just wanted five more minutes.” Son: Tony Allen Shortt and wife, Frances Kate of Baptist Valley, VA Daughter: Miranda Ann Shortt and fiancé Eric Mitchell of Doran, VA Sisters: Phyllis Brewer and husband, Alfred of Blackford, VA Judy Faye Honaker of Raven, VA Rita Joyce Harmon and husband, Bryan of Raven, VA Diane Price of Bristol, VA Brother: David Wayne Robinette and wife, Pam of Richlands, VA Her grandchildren: Joey, Kaleigh, and Everleigh and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Barbara Ann Shortt will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Elder Bobby Ball officiating. Entombment will follow at 1:00pm on Thursday at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Robert Brewer, Kevin Brewer, David Robinette, Shawn Robinette, Dale Artrip, Mark Honaker, Stevie Honaker, Richard Honaker, Anthony Robinette, Jimmy Smith, James Price, grandson, Joey and Matthew Webb. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at 12:30pm Thursday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
