Beatrice Marie Hardy

Beatrice Marie Hardy, age 94 of Canebrake, WV died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at her home. She was born September 27, 1920 at McDowell County, WV and was a daughter of the late James Edward and Sally Sparks Hardy. She was a member of the former Squire Temple Freewill Baptist Church in Squire, WV, where she served as Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Hardy was active in her community as a Girl Scout Leader, and Treasurer for the Squire Community Center. She loved her flower gardens and making sure her family had plenty to eat. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Hardy; two daughters, Inez Hale and an infant daughter, Patricia Hardy; one sister, Mildred Lewis; four brothers, Jack, Clyde, David and Louis Hardy; three grandchildren, Chastity Patton, Raymond Hale, Jr., and Kimberly Hale James; her best friend, Fern Whitt. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Patsy Payne and husband, Steve of War, WV and Pam Patton and husband, Rick of Wytheville, VA; one son, Ronald Hardy of Canebrake, WV; two sisters, Marion Reed of Moneta, VA and Nancy Mayland and husband, David of Brandon, FL; special caregiver, Isabelle Blankenship of Canebrake, WV; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other family members and friends also survive. Funeral services for Beatrice Marie Hardy will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Rick Patton officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
