Charles "Chuck" Thomas Shinall

Charles “Chuck” Thomas Shinall, age 60, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late James H. Shinall and Helen Irene Sargent Shinall. Chuck was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1981 and SVCC Electrical Engineering Class of 1984. He was a retired I.T. Specialist for the Virginia State Police and was a past chief dispatcher for the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office. He was a volunteer fire and rescue member of several different agencies and was a past employee of Woody’s and B&G Motors. At the time of his death, he was a part time worker for Weber City Discount Tire. He was a member of the Tazewell County Sportsman Club, life member of the Richlands Rescue Squad, honorary member of the Shawsville Rescue Squad, member of VAVRS, an EVOC instructor, and a VA EMT. He was a member and Master of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF&AM and a member and past Master of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF&AM. He loved to travel with his wife, Sharon. He loved cats. He loved to take train trips, especially on the Norfolk and Western J No. 611. Chuck loved fishing, shooting with the boys, people watching, meeting new people, training EVOC and EMT students, training state police and local officers, spending time at the casino, eating out, riding horses, and helping the Community Cats program with Tazewell County. Survivors are: His Wife of 31 years: Sharon Kay Shinall Sisters: Kim Shinall of Cadiz, Ohio Ann Brooks of Bedford, Pennsylvania Brother: James H. Shinall, Jr. and wife, Katherine of Smyrna, Georgia Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Special Friends: Tim Ray, James “Bubba” Richardson, Eric Sawyers, and Brian Phillippi. Funeral services for Charles “Chuck” Shinall will be conducted Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Rick Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Members of the Cedar Bluff and Richlands Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers. Masonic services will be conducted at the beginning of the funeral service on Saturday. Friends may visit from 12:30pm until 1pm on Saturday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
