Dallas Addington

Mr. Dallas Eugene Addington, age 77, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. He was born in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the son of the late Jack and Ethel Perkins Addington. He was a lifelong resident of the Jewell Ridge area and was a retired welder and linesman from the Jewell Ridge Coal Corporation. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Richlands, Virginia and was a member of the UMWA Local #7327 Jewell Ridge, Virginia. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son in law, Gregory Burton; one granddaughter, Jami Lynn Street; and two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Jean) Eure and Mrs. Jack (Marie) Smith. Survivors are: His Wife: Janet Smith Addington Four Daughters: Myra Gail Burton of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Shelia Barnett Wright of the home Linda Gay Street of New Haven, Indiana Sharon Eugenia Keene and husband, Darrell of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Two Sisters: Mrs. Burley (Juanita) Smith of Clinton, Tennessee Shirley Joyce and husband, Maze of Clinton, Tennessee Two Brothers: Edward Addington and wife, Jean of Grundy, Virginia Dempsey Addington and wife, Pauline of Richlands, Virginia Special Friends: James Blankenship and wife, Betty Three Granddaughters, Nine Grandsons, Twelve Great Grandchildren, and Three Step Great Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Dallas Addington will be conducted Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2:00pm at the First Assembly of God Church in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Buddy Herald officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Danny Smith, Todd Smith, Jimmy Blankenship, Randy Smith, Stevie Smith, Junior Addington, Jack Addington, and Kenneth Barnett. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call after 6:00pm Friday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
