Daniel Evans

Daniel Lee Evans, age 55 of Richlands, Virginia passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at a local area hospital. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was the son of Earl and Dorothy Nidig Evans of Pennsylvania. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for over 22 years, retiring as Petty Officer 2nd Class, he worked as an air traffic control officer, trained scuba diver and many other jobs within the naval field. He was a self-employed business owner of Evans Debris Removal and loved to drive and travel in his trucks, especially “Big Red”. Daniel was an immense die hard Pittsburg Steelers Fan. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, a caring brother and a true friend. Many people knew him for his outgoing personality. Throughout the years he had worked several jobs involving the public and if you had the honor of meeting him you never forgot him, he definitely left a lasting impression. He was a man of simple pleasure and found great joy in the simpler things in life. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Butch, Rick, James, and William “Bill” Evans and one infant sister, Gloria Evans. Evans and wife Selena of Hidden Valley, VA Daughter, Jessica L. Evans of Richlands, VA Sisters: Marie K. Margaro of FL Sharon Quaca and husband Ed of Marysville, PA Jane White and husband John of Liverpool, PA Mary Darrenkamp and husband Barney of Harrisburg, PA Brother, Andrew Evans and wife Betty of Newport, PA Special Niece, Kelsea Evans of St. Augustine, FL His grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Alyissa Marie Evans, Emma Elyce Young, Trystan Evans, Jaser and Nasim Javed. In addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins he was survived by an extended family and a host of friends. Funeral services for Daniel Lee Evans will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Stranger officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Cemetery in Claypool Hill, VA. Serving as pallbearers will be, Lloyd Sizemore, Phillip Compton, Wesley Brown, Nick Evans, Josh Evans and Josh Young. Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Stilwell and the Richlands Police Department. Graveside military rites will be performed by Casey -Shortt VFW Post #9640.
