Karin Kae Young

Karin Kae Young, age 78, of Tazewell, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 in a Princeton, West Virginia hospital. She was born in Ogden, Utah and was the daughter of the late Allen and Charlotte Porter Perkins. Karin had made her home in the Tazewell area most of her life and was a retired sales associate from the Magic Mart in Tazewell, Virginia with over 26 years of service. Karen loved Tazewell Bulldog football. She was affectionately known as “Granny” and was the epitome of being a Bulldog fan. She loved every kid like they were her own. She supported every sport and took pride in watching and supporting not only her family, but every member of the team. Family time was the most important part of her life: spending time watching sports and showing off Conley’s vintage rides. She relished the fact that cars and sports brought the family together, but Christmas was the absolute most important time of the year for Karin. Getting to see the joy on every kid’s face, no matter their age, was the light in her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conley Arlin Young; and one sister, Penny Lightfoot. Survivors are: Daughters: Roberta Kinder and husband, Darryl of Tazewell, Virginia Charity Hurst and husband, Jeff of Richlands, Virginia Sons: Hoss Young and wife, Rhonda of Troutville, Virginia Glenn Young and wife, Stephanie of Bluefield, West Virginia Deacon Young of Tazewell, Virginia Brother: Milton Perkins of Spokane, WA Grandchildren: Jarred Young, Justin Young, Lake Young, Leif Young, Darrah Young, Derrick Young, Mikey Young, Drake Young, Devon Young, Meagan Young, Jeremiah Young, Brandon McDaniel and wife, Breanne; Eric McDaniel and Lakin Foley; Bailey Hurst, Addison Hurst, and Cooper Hurst Great Grandchildren: Kolten McDaniel, Peyton McDaniel, Ryder McDaniel, Ryhatt McDaniel, Ellee Hess, Logan Greene, Arabella Greene, Theodore Young, Maliki Young Funeral services for Karin Young will be conducted Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 2pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia with the Rev. Lawrence Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Young Family Cemetery in Ceres, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 1pm until 2pm Sunday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, Virginia.
