Opal Hatfield Mitchell

Opal Hatfield Mitchell, age 86, of Raven, Virginia, formerly of the White Mountain section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 26, 2022, at her home. She was born in Bartley, West Virginia on August 1, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertie Simcox Hatfield. She was a member of the Pisgah Holiness Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubbard Mitchell; son, Larry Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Renee Mitchell; two sisters, Zettie Hagerman and Juanita Yates; and two brothers, Roy Hatfield, and infant brother, Lewis Hatfield. Those left to cherish her memory are: Daughter: Debbie Mullins of Raven, Virginia Sons: Billy Mitchell of Fredericksburg, Virginia Donald Mitchell and wife, Carrie of Raven, Virginia Ronald Mitchell and wife, Gianinna of Okeechobee, FL Daughter-in-Law: Debbie Mitchell of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Sisters: Gladys Dykes of Hoboken, Georgia Linda Newman of Waycross, Georgia Edith Caperton of Waycross, Georgia Brothers: Walter Hatfield, Jr. of Sweetwater, TN Luther Hatfield of Okeechobee, FL Six Grandchildren: Brian Mitchell and wife, Lisa Marie, Natasha Mitchell, Aaron Mitchell, Adriana Mitchell and husband, Sean Sileno, Brandon Mitchell, and Nathaniel Mullins Great Grandchildren: Megan Dye, Haley White, and Ellie Mae Mitchell Special thanks to Home Health Hospice of Lebanon, Virginia, and special thanks to Lisa Lawson, Wendy Griffith, and John Vestal. Funeral services for Opal Mitchell will be conducted Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Mike Altizer and Rev. Jonathan Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Family Cemetery on Pea Patch near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be; Danny Mitchell, Chester Mitchell, Jamie Ashby, Andrew Proffitt, Benny Sparks, John Mullins, and Benny Hicks.
