Sylvia Pearl Casey White

Sylvia Pearl Casey White, age 84, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Danville Virginia Regional Medical Center in Danville, VA. She was born in Richlands, VA and was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Pearl Preas Casey. Ms. White was a class of 1948 graduate of Richlands High School. She then received her B.A Degree at Radford University and her M.A. at Virginia Tech. She was a former teacher for twenty five years in the Tazewell County School System where she started at Jewell Ridge Elementary and finished at Richlands Elementary School. She was a member of the Belfast United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was a lifelong resident of the area. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Thompson White; five brothers, Fred Casey, Charles G. Casey, Harry L. Casey, James E. Casey, and J.C. Casey; two sisters, Mary Frances Griffin and Judith Ann Jessee. She is survived by: Her husband, William A. “Tommy” White One Son: William S. “Billy” White and wife, Beverly of Dry Fork, VA Two Sisters: Ella McCall of Athens, GA Alice Pyott and husband, Jack of Cedar Bluff, VA Sisters-in-Law, Faye Casey, Susie White, Jetty Harr, and Geneviene Beavers Brother-in-Law, Paige White Two Grandchildren: Lindsay Salyers and husband, Lucas William White and wife, Gabrielle One Great Grandchild, Layton Salyers also survives along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Sylvia Pearl Casey White will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, VA with Pastor Jason Crandell and Rev. Brad Scott officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be: William White, Lewis White, John Casey, Jeff Casey, Jody Jessee, Greg Forrester, Fred Phillips, and Ryan Williams. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
