Agnes Johnson

Mrs. Agnes Grose Johnson, age 70, of the Steelesburg section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 11, 2005 from her home in Steelesburg. Agnes?s passion for life, her great courage and strength will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to read and quilt, but more than anything she loved her Lord and her family. The memories we have will always be cherished. Agnes was born in Raven, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Dewey and Hazel Steele Grose, both Russell County natives. She was a 1952 Richlands High School graduate and was a retired lab technician for Mattie Williams Hospital, Clinch Valley Medical Center, and Buchanan General hospital. She was a member of New Hope Assembly and the Church of God of Prophecy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Raleigh Johnson. Survivors are: Two Sons: Mr. Stephen White and wife, Fawn of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Mr. Frank White and wife, Lisa of Randleman, North Carolina Two Brothers: Mr. Andrew Grose and wife, Brenda of Lexington, Virginia Mr. Franklin Grose and wife, Wanda of Elkmont, Alabama Four Grandchildren: Natasha Jones of Stewart, Virginia, Angela White of Randleman, North Carolina, Rebecca White of Randleman, North Carolina, and Matt White of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, and four great grandchildren. Special friends, Sandy Shelton and Marie Steele also survive. A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Agnes Grose Johnson will be held Monday, June 13th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Claudie Throgmartin, Pastor Danny Altizer, and Pastor Lisa Haywood officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands after 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
