Allen McThenia Peery

It is with extreme sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, Allen McThenia Peery, of Bealeton, VA, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the age of 77, concluding a life marked by devotion to her family and friends. She was born August 26, 1946, In Saltville, VA. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Price and the late Buford & Malissa Vandyke. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Francis Lane, and her brothers, Claude (Kimple) Price, Donald Price, and Timothy Vandyke. She is survived by her husband, Steven Craig Peery, of 37 years. She also is survived by her daughters. Dawna Phipps and husband John, grandson Jonathan (Jon Rob) Phipps of Midland VA. Myra Raines and husband Kenneth, grandson Zackery (Zackie) Raines of Bunker Hill, WV. Jamie Sue Lane and wife Rita, granddaughter Casey Lemoi and husband John, and great-grandchildren Willow, Elizabeth, and Leyland (Leo) Lemoi, all of Hollywood, MD. Sister, Teressa VanDyke Lester, Niece Elizabeth Sisk and husband Tim, their children Ethan Kiser & Elexuis Sisk of Richlands, VA. Allen was a retired school bus driver for Manassas Christian School. She loved being with the children every day. Sometimes, she would even take the school bus through McDonald's to buy them an ice cream. Wonder who their favorite bus driver was? After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She thrived on the daily contact with her daughters. Speaking of her family brought a smile and joy to her heart. She enjoyed antiquing and flea markets. These hobbies fit perfectly, as she had never met a stranger in her life and was in her element interacting with people, young and old. Allen was incredible with plants; if she found a plant that others thought was hopeless, her green thumb would bring it back to life with her tender, loving care. Allen's reverence for God's creatures was evident, as she always cared for any animals that crossed her path. She always spoke daily of her faith and ensured her family knew God was always with them. She told her children and grandchildren to keep their faith and expect a miracle. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Allen M Peery will be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Hurst Scott Funeral Chapel with Evangelist Bob Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm before the service.
