Angela Pearl Young, age 53, of North Tazewell, Virginia, drew her last breath here on earth and entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 11, 2026, at her home. Born June 14, 1972, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Robert Asbury and Dainta Nile Christian Asbury. Angela was a woman of the Christian faith who lived life with a spirit that was "tough as nails," yet possessed a heart overflowing with love for those around her. Angela had a vibrant soul and a deep love for music. She could often be found watching YouTube videos and singing along to 80’s hits, with Def Leppard being a particular favorite. A devoted fan through and through, the Tennessee Titans could not have asked for a more loyal supporter. She also enjoyed exploring the mysteries of the zodiac signs and was a talented cook who took great pride in preparing meals for her family. Above all else, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren; every moment spent with them was a treasure. Angela opened her home and heart to many people in need over the years. She was one of the most dependable and reliable people you could meet. Angela took her role as the family’s "memory keeper" to heart, acting as the living bridge between the past and the future. She possessed a rare gift for storytelling, transforming names and dates into vivid, breathing memories. Whether sitting around the kitchen table or gathered during the holidays, she would recount tales of those who came before, ensuring that the roots of the Asbury and Young families remained strong and well-known to her children and grandchildren. For Angela, traditions weren't just routines; they were the heartbeat of the family. She was the guardian of the "secret" family recipes, teaching her children the art of a perfectly cooked meal and the importance of a crowded table. She made sure that every holiday was anchored in the same customs she grew up with, believing that these shared experiences were what truly bound a family together. By sharing these stories and skills, she wasn't just passing on history—she was instilling a sense of identity and belonging in the next generation, ensuring that her voice and the voices of her ancestors will continue to echo in the years to come. In addition to her parents, she was reunited in heaven with her loving husband and soulmate, Daniel Mitchell Young. Her legacy of love lives on through her children: Cameron Young and fiancée Hannah White of Tazewell, VA; Amber Young and fiancée Randy Bates of Salem, VA; and Jension Fulp and husband Matthew of North Tazewell, VA. She is also survived by her siblings, Karen Mustard of Bluefield, WV, and Melissa Hill and husband Dwayne of North Tazewell, VA; and her companion, George “Joe” Sluss III of North Tazewell, VA. Her memory will be cherished by her beloved grandchildren: Ayden, Palmer, Corbin, Coltin, Genesis, Niel, and Easton, as well as her granddaughter on the way, Harper Young. Her beloved aunt and uncle, Joy and Frank Myers, and her uncle Rodrick Christian. She also leaves behind her faithful feline companions, Bella and Rat, and her canine companion, Blade. In lieu of flowers, the family finds comfort in donations directly to Hurst-Scott Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses during this difficult time.
