Archie Compton,

Mr. Archie T. "Roscoe" Compton, III, age 29, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 in Chapmansville, West Virginia following a brief illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of Johnny and Penny Keene Compton, of Shortts Gap, Virginia. He had made his home in the Buchanan County area all of his life and was a heavy equipment operator for Selco in Richlands, Virginia. He was a loving son, brother, and wonderful person. He was preceded in death by Grandfathers, Elmer T. Compton and Buskil Keene; two Aunts, Bonnie Keene and Nancy Compton; and half sister, Phyllis Lester. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: Grandmothers: Vicie Compton of Compton Mountain, Virginia Armenda Keene Varney of Canada, Kentucky One Sister: Vickie Compton Clevinger and husband, Danny of Shortts Gap, Virginia Uncles: Clyde Compton and wife, Sylvia of Dismal, Virginia; Jr. Compton and wife, Janice of Raven, Virginia; Thurman Compton and wife, Linda of Pilgrim Knob, Virginia; Wayne Compton and wife, Paula of Compton Mtn, Virginia; Roger Keene and wife, Grendia of Jewell Ridge, Virginia; Troy Keene and wife, Janice of Peapatch, Virginia; Harold Keene and wife, Betty of Florahomey, Florida; Richard Keene of Lakeland, Florida. Aunts: Ann Lester and husband, Floyd of Pounding Mill, Virginia; Gaynell Adkins and husband, Kendall of Pound, Virginia; Martha Lou Allen and husband, Sam of Bridgeton, NJ; Juanita Wimmer of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Great Nieces: Natosha Justice, Kyla Justice; Great Nephew: Zachary Justice; 32 cousins and a host of family and friends also survive. Funeral services for Archie T. Compton, III will be conducted Monday, May 26, 2008 at 11:00am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis Wimmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Compton Family Cemetery on Compton Mountain near Whitewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Ricky Dotson, Ben Compton, Daniel Ray, Bear Compton, Buskel Keene. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Employees of Selco, Inc. Friends may call after 6:00pm Sunday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia
