Audrey Griffith

Audrey Katherine Wedge Griffith, age 70 of North Tazewell, Virginia passed away, Sunday January 9, 2011 at a Roanoke memorial hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Delmar R. Wedge, Sr., and Phyllis McBride Wedge formerly of Detroit Michigan. She was a full time homemaker and was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had attended the Friendly Chapel Church on Smith Ridge and had lived most of her life in the Jewell Ridge area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her loving husband Ernest “Snake” Griffith, and her sister Carolyne Connelly. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are; Her daughters, Susan Lynn Griffith and fiancé Buddy of N. Tazewell, VA Gail Marie Coxton and husband, Johnny of Cliffield, VA Rebecca Lynn Griffith and fiancé Charles of N. Tazewell, VA Michelle Lee Griffith and fiancé Thomas of Tazewell, VA Sons, Gerald Kyle Griffith, Sr. and wife Wanda of Wirtz, VA Winfred Allen Griffith of N. Tazewell, VA Sisters, Vivian Sfhaffer of Michigan Diane Schuh of Michigan Marlene Brown of Tennessee Geraldine Wedge of Pennsylvania Brothers Delmar R. Wedge of Colorado Springs, Colorado Ronald Butchie Wedge of Michigan Four special grandchildren, Zachery Lee, Isabella Grace, Alayshia Nicole and Aiyanna Cortez Special Friends, Renee and Robert Steele 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren also survive her along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Audrey Katherine Griffith will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lonnie Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Griffith Family cemetery located on Smith Ridge near Jewell Ridge, VA. Pallbearers will be Gerald K. Griffith, Jr., Jeffrey A. Griffith, Thomas K. McDonald, Douglas R. Flanagan, Gregory A. Whitt, Harrison W. Flanagan, Jr., Gary L. Tatum and Joseph A. Brown.
