Barbara Ann Presley

Ms. Barbara Ann McCoy Presley age 79, of Baptist Valley, Virginia drew her last breath here on earth, Thursday, May 5, 2022 in Tazewell following a lengthy illness. Barbara was born in Russell County, Virginia on November 7, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson McCoy and Leo Cook McCoy. She was a graduate of Tazewell High School Class of 1959. Barbara had worked many years as a dental hygienist before going to work at Tazewell Community Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist and once served as the town Magistrate. She had attended Dailey’s Chapel and lived all of her life within the surrounding areas. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved to Garden and harvesting her crops for canning, she enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach. Her greatest happiness was being with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. Being a Nannie brought her a heart full of joy. To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Jerry Bennett Presley, and her sidekick and best friend, her sister Carol Sue Moore. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving her to carry on her loving spirit is her: Daughter, Sue Ellen Presley and husband Jim Talbert of Tazewell, Virginia Son, Anthony “Tony” Wayne Presley, and wife, Jamie of North Tazewell, Virginia Grandchildren, Brandon Presley and wife, Angela of Abingdon, VA; Matthew Presley, Elisabeth Presley, Eden Presley, Jedidah Presley, and Christian Presley. Great-grandchildren, Bennett Presley, and Ryan Presley A host of family and friends also survive. The funeral service for Barbara Presley will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell with the Reverends John Ralph Repass and Henry Johnson Officiating. Entombment will follow at the Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Matthew Presley, Jedidiah Presley, Christian Presley, Shannon Honaker, Jim Talbert, and Gary Moore. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Saturday.
