Betty Harman Rill

Betty Lee Harman Rill, age 80 of the Witten’s Mill community of North Tazewell, VA died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her home. She was born April 18, 1931 at Westminster, MD and was a daughter of the late Birnie B. and Carrie E. Brown Harman. During her life she had worked as an LPN with Grundy Hospital, a caretaker for Camp Evangel, and many years as a loving homemaker. She loved Newhall Bible Church, at Newhall, WV, where she and her late husband, Pastor Roland Edward Rill, ministered for many years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a blessing to many and will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include: four daughters - Kari L. Arave and husband, Larry of Ft. Collins, CO, Phyllis E. Fleming and husband, Randy of Pounding Mill, VA, Martha E. Rill of the home, and Debra L. Stacy and husband, Willard Curtis Stacy of Grundy, VA; three grandchildren - Monica Blankenship and husband, Michael of North Tazewell, VA, Katrina Gregory and husband, Ricky of Falls Mills, VA, and Eddie Stacy and wife, Dawn of Nashville, TN; five great-grandchildren - Evan and Tannith Blankenship, Neil and Rosalyn Gregory, and Elizabeth Stacy; special niece, Patricia A. May of Finksburg, MD; many other family members and friends also survive. The family will receive friends at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, where a funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Carl Howell and Pastor John Webb officiating. Graveside and committal services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, VA. Pallbearers will be Eddie Stacy, Michael Blankenship, Ricky Gregory, II, Jerry Mitchell, Jerry Stevenson, and Dwane Muncy. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Muncy, Larry Arave, Randy Fleming and Curtis Stacy. Those wishing to attend the graveside and committal services on Saturday, January 14, 2012 are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:00 a.m. There will be no funeral procession to the cemetery.
