Betty Jean Dye Robinette

Betty Jean Dye Robinette of Raven, Virginia passed away suddenly at her home on September 19, 2022. Born December 18, 1950, she was 71 years old. She grew up in Swords Creek, the daughter of the late Jonah and Fonnie Breedlove Dye. Betty had many jobs, sewing factory, retail, and the used car lot for many years with her late husband, Larry Daniel Robinette. She had many hobbies and could make anything she did look beautiful. She was the glue, and strength of her family. But above all she was the best mother, wife, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt and companion. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will never be replaced. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Ralph Dye, Ruby Dye, Janice Whited, Linda Dye, Mary Sue Perkins, James Dye and Robert Dye; and sister-in-law, Barbara Shortt. She is survived by: Her Longtime Companion, Alfred “Smiley” Wicks Two Daughters: Sherry Robinette McGaffee and husband, Travis of Murfreesboro, Tennessee Melissa Robinette of Raven, Virginia Five Grandchildren: Lauren McGaffee, Sydney McGaffee, Madison Bolt, Trey McGaffee, Ashlyn Robinette Two Sisters: Shirley Hubbard of Swords Creek, Virginia Jeanette Stinson of Finney, Virginia One Brother and Special Sister-in-Law, Hurley Wayne and Darlene Dye Five Bonus Sisters and One Brother, David Robinette, Rita Harmon, Phyllis Brewer, Diane Price and Judy Honaker. Her Companion’s Two Children: Alfred Wicks and wife, Kim Diane White and husband, Brian. She is also survived by too many special nephews and nieces to list. Longtime friends and neighbors. Funeral services for Betty Jean Dye Robinette will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Travis McGaffee, Trey McGaffee, Alfred Wicks, Jr., Brian White, Ronnie Hall, Kevin Brewer, Jimmy Smith, and Shawn Robinette. Honorary pallbearers will be David Robinette, Larry Rose, Steve Shortt, Tony Shortt, Jeff Stinson and Calvin Stinson. The Robinette family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
