Beulah Welch

Ms. Beulah Jean Welch, age 93, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 at a local Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late John Henderson and Katherine Victoria Morgan Buskell, former Richlands natives. She attended Richlands High School and later became a full time Substitute Teacher for the Tazewell County School System. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved caring for her family. Over the years she grew many beautiful flowers in her garden, quilted, made homemade hook rugs and in her quiet times she loved to conquer a good crossword puzzle. She attended the First Christian Church in Richlands and was a lifetime resident of the area. Beulah was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Beedy C. Welch; a son, Arthur Lindsey Welch; a daughter, Jean Clemons Welch; five brothers and four sisters. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her daughters: Mary Sewell Bull of Hermitage, TN Selina Kathryn Welch of Gastonia, NC Her Sons: Tommy Reese Welch and wife Shirley of Crozet, VA Charles William “Joe Bill” Welch and wife Doris of Salem, VA Richard Daniel Welch of Hawkinsville, GA Twelve Grandchildren, Fifteen Great-Grandchildren and a host of family and friends also survive her. Funeral services for Beulah Jean Welch will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Stafford Compton and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill. Pallbearers will be Johnny Buskill, Richard Buskill, Joey Walton, Chris Walton, Richard Blankenship and Eddie Cordill.
