Billy D. Bellamy

Billy D. Bellamy, age 82 of Squire, WV passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Cedar Bluff, VA. He was born November 27, 1936 at Bartley, WV and was a son of the late Herbert and Mandy Christian Bellamy Edgell. Billy grew up in the Bartley area and attended Big Creek High School; he proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He was a quiet man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who had a memorable fishing trip to Alaska. He also liked reading, golfing, bowling and playing cards. Billy retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Southington, CT. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed the singing and preaching at Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Ray Bellamy; one grandson, Frankie Foster; his brother and sister-in-law, Everitt “Tom” and Willa Mae Bellamy; his son-in-law, Johnny M. Foster. Those who survive to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Akers Bellamy; two daughters, Crystal Foster of Squire, WV and Cheryl Ekstrom and husband, David of Mebane, NC; one sister, Mary Martinich and husband, Vick of Montpelier, OH; one brother, Roger Bellamy and wife, Midge of Niantic, CT; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Foster, Don Foster and wife, Sarah, John Foster and companion, Christine Terrell, Eric Foster, Sara Ekstrom, Kayla Ekstrom and Tiffany Ekstrom; six great-grandchildren, Noah Foster, Lilah Foster, Tyler Foster, Colton Foster, Luke Foster all of Connecticut and Emma Foster of North Carolina; many beloved cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Billy Bellamy will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, WV with the Rev. Darrell Long officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 in Tazewell, VA. The family will receive friends at the Church from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019.
