In loving Memory of Billy Sam Lowe, Sr., age 71 of Richlands, Virginia whom went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late, Jerry Lowe and Josie Blankenship Lowe Reedy. He had served his country in the US Army before returning home to work in the coal mines. He had worked for Black Mountain Coal Co., and was a member of the UMWA. Billy was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather. He was a member of the Hill Creek Baptist Church and was a life time resident of the Richlands area. Billy was an avid hunter and fisherman who could spend the day enjoying the beauty of God’s great outdoors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, two infant siblings, Lucille & Earl Lowe, brothers, Claude, Hubert and Johnny Lowe, sisters, Pauline Hess, pearl Brown and Jenny Brown , step brother- Burt Reedy, Step-sister, Hathie Reedy and one special brother, Carl E. Whitt, Sr. Those who remain to carry on his spirit are: His loving wife of 43 years, Maxine Marie Lowe of Richlands, VA Son, Billy Sam Lowe, Jr. and wife Melissa of Richlands, VA Daughter, Melissa Michelle Lowe and husband Michael of Richlands, VA Brother, Bobby P. Lowe and wife Lena Mae Grandsons, Christopher W. Helton, Michael L. Threatt II and Bryson S. Lowe Granddaughters, Kristen B. Threatt and Isabella G. Lowe Several very special nieces and nephews also survive him along with a host of family and friends, he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services for Mr. Billy S. Lowe, Sr. will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Bill Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Sherman Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Ralph Goss, Greg Goss, Noel Goss and Tyler Helton. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael l. Threatt, Michael L. Threatt II, Christopher W. Helton, Roger Houchins and Carl Whitt, Sr.. The VFW Post# 9640 will be conducting Military graveside rites.
