Bobby Dye

Mr. Bobby Dean Dye, age 72, of Doran, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Swords Creek, Virginia and was a son of the late Swifty John and Effie Robinette Dye, both Russell County natives. He made his home in the Swords Creek and Doran, Virginia areas his entire life, was a disabled coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union No. 1256 of Duty, Virginia. He was a U. S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran and was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Alice Osborne Dye and one grandson, Ronnie Lee Hurt, II. Survivors are: Three Daughters:Bobbie Jane “Trixie” Hurt of the home Kimberly DeAnna Dye and husband, Keith of Swords Creek, Virginia Brandi Marie Helton and husband, David of Statesville, North Carolina Two Sons:Larry Dean Dye and wife, Teresa of Paintlick, Virginia Timothy Dwayne Dye of Swords Creek, Virginia Three Sisters:Mrs. Betty Ruth Patrick and husband, George of Richlands, Virginia Mrs. Bonita Lawson and husband, Arthur of Raven, Virginia Mrs. Barbara Byas and husband, Fred of Gray, Tennessee Two Brothers:Mr. Gene T. Dye of Richlands, Virginia Mr. Dexter T. Dye and wife, Corlie of Limestone, Tennessee 8 Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Also survie him along with a host of friends. Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Dean Dye will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Monte Elswick and Rev. Grady McGlothlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Dye Family Cemetery at Swords Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Rafty Dye, Jared Dye, John Dye, Channing Elkins, Alan Viars, Brian Perkins, Vincent Whited, and J. R. Salyers. Honorary pallbearers: Jeff Dye, Mike Patrick, and Joseph Wilson. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites.
