Bobby Lyons

Mr. Bobby Joe Lyons, age 74, of North Tazewell, Virginia, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Mayfair House at Claypool Hill, Virginia. He was born in Stonega, Virginia and was the son of the late John Wesley and Ethel Mae Bledsoe Lyons. He was a former bookkeeper for the McGlothlin Building and Supply Company and was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy. He was both a U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy Veteran and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Casey Shortt VFW Post #9640 and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #628. He was also a member of the Virginia Defense Force having attained the rank of Captain and was the commander of “A” Company, VDF 34th BN., Highlands BDE. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF & AM and a member of Dailey’s Chapel in Baptist Valley, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Faye Lyons and two brothers, Billy Ray Lyons and John Wesley Lyons, Jr. Survivors are: His Wife: Euva Lyons One Son: Bill Dailey and wife, Judy of Chester, Virginia One Daughter: Mrs. Debbie Roberts and husband, RC of Richlands, Virginia Two Step Sons: Ty and Jeff Rickey One Sister: Peggy Lowe of Wardell, Virginia One Brother: Eugene Lyons and wife, Geneva of Richlands, Virginia Three Grandchildren: Chris Roberts of Richlands, Virginia; Leanna Dailey of Atlanta, Georgia; and Matthew Dailey of Los Angeles, California. He loved and cherished all of his surviving nieces, nephews, and cousins and especially his special friends and care givers at the Mayfair House and Legacy Hospice. Funeral services for Bobby Joe Lyons will be conducted Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Gary Lyons, Rev. J.C. Johnson, and Rev. Kenny Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites and serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of the Dailey’s Chapel. Friends may call after 6:00pm Tuesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands. Masonic services will be conducted Tuesday evening at 7:00pm by the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF & AM.
