Bradley Thomas Horn

Bradley “Brad” Thomas Horn, age 56, of Whitewood, Virginia, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Brad was born in Richlands on March 16, 1969, and was the son of Joyce “Sue” Horn of Whitewood, Virginia, and the late Bobby Ray Horn. Brad had attended Whitewood High School and was a member of the Whitewood Rescue Squad in his earlier years. In addition to being a carpenter and woodworker, he enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and target shooting with his guns. He spent most of his life on the open road as a truck driver, enjoying the solitude that came with it. He was a self-proclaimed Jack of all trades, master of none, and never met a stranger; he could strike up a conversation with anyone he met. Brad spent most of his younger life in the Buchanan County area, later moving to Florida for several years. After his wife passed away, he moved to Abingdon for a while, then returned home to Whitewood. He will be missed by all who loved him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jillian Mae Reed Horn, his paternal grandparents, who were like his other mom and dad, Jennings and Mildred Patrick. He is survived by his only child, Cassie Compton, and her husband, Shane, of Bristol, VA. Mom, Joyce “Sue” Horn of Whitewood, VA Sister Teresa Mounts and her husband, David of Whitewood, VA Niece, Carry Gilbert, and her husband, Jason of Whitewood, VA Nephew, Anthony Mounts, and his wife, Amie of Garden Creek, VA His beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn Compton, Aspen Compton, Roan Compton His loving canine companion, Buddy Several great-nieces, great-nephews, family, and friends also survive him. The funeral service for Brad Horn will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Minister Jamie Keen officiating. Interment will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery on Brown Mountain near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Anthony Mounts, Shane Compton, David Mounts, Larry Hall, Jason Gilbert, and Jayden Trusty. The family will begin receiving friends at noon on Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
