Brady Hess

Brady Hess, age 97, of Richlands, Virginia, formerly of Rowe, Virginia, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 27, 2022 following a lengthy illness, at the home of his daughter, Barbara McGraw. He was born in Skeggs, Virginia on November 3, 1924 and was the son of the late Fullen and Alice Street Hess. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran; a retired miner from Beatrice Coal Company; a member of the UMWA Local #1509. Brady attended church at Rowe Pentecostal Church, Sullivan Branch Pentecostal Church, and attended the Richlands Tabernacle for the last six years. He was a Godly man that sang in hundreds of funerals for the local communities. His heart was for God….attending church, singing, and praying for the sick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Allie Rowe Hess; son in law, Bobby McGraw; three brothers, Albert Hess, Elihue Hess, and Coy Hess; sisters, Leler Keen, Beulah Helton, and Ethel Hess; and brothers in law, Dexter Rowe and Souel Rowe. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors are: His Daughter: Barbara McGraw of Richlands, Virginia Grandson: Brian McGraw Brothers In Law: Fred Rowe and wife, Elizabeth of Rowe, Virginia Ellis B. Rowe and wife, Joyce of Morristown, TN Sister-In-Law: Patty Taylor of Abingdon, Virginia Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to: Brenda Looney, Helping Hands Hospice, his nurses: Chad, Abby, and Brittany; Richlands Rescue Squad, Richlands Police Department, Jerry Raines, Darrell Hess, Bobby Alicie, Teddy Monk and Jim Ed Lambert. Funeral services for Brady Hess will be conducted Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 12noon at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Phillip Horton, Rev. David Horton, Bro. Jeff Tiller, and Bro. Jim Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Darrell Hess, Fred Rowe, Chester Rowe, Johnny Rowe, Gary Hess, Steve Vencill, Bobby Alicie, Gerald McAllister, Jim Ed Lambert, and Herb Jamison. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rev. Bob Osborne, Jerry Raines, Noah Boyd, Teddy Monk, Don Boyd, Harvey Hess, Danny Street, Harless Keen, Rev. Eddie Street, Rev. Keith Harris. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Members of UMWA Chaplain Corps will conduct services.
