Brenda Jeraldine Reynolds Johnson, age 71 0f Richlands, Virginia was at her home surrounded by her loving family as she drew her first breath in heaven on Saturday, March 31, 2018. She was born in Swords Creek, Virginia and was the daughter of the late, Charlie Edward Reynolds, Jr. and Helen Slate Reynolds. Brenda was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1966. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Brenda enjoyed shopping with her daughters, cooking, baking, and caring for children. She attended the Chapel of Love Church and was a lifetime resident of the area. The love Brenda had for husband, daughters, grandchildren and sons in law, was an earthly example of Christ’s Love. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Reynolds and Donald Reynolds. Those who remain to carry on her loving spirit are: Her loving husband of 48 years, Allen B. Johnson, Jr. of Richlands, VA Her daughters: Tonya Renee Johnson Hines and husband Jason of Easley, SC Dwana Allen Johnson Shortridge and husband, Ralph, Jr., of Richlands, VA Sisters: Carolyn Whitt and husband Richard of Belfast, VA Wanda White and husband, R.A. of Lebanon, TN Debbie Crouse and husband, Randy of Huntsville, Al Brothers: Jim Reynolds and wife, Pat of Doran, VA Keith Reynolds and wife, Carla of Franklin, TN Special friend, Anita Hagy. Grandchildren, Cory Allen Shortridge, William Nicholas Shortridge, Gavin Seth Shortridge and Eden Kendall Hines, also survive along with several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bidros and the Oncology Staff of Clinch Valley Hospital, Dr Bender and the Urology Staff, Legacy Hospice, Interim Health, Community Health Care and fifth floor Nursing staff, and her special caregivers, Dwana and Ralph Shortridge. The funeral for Brenda Johnson will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with the Rev. Roger Lester, Rev. Josephine Russ-Wright and Rev. Ralph Shortridge officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Cory Shortridge, Nicholas Shortridge, Jim Reynolds, Keith Reynolds, Seth Shortridge, Roger Hagy and Gavin Shortridge. Honorary pallbearers are the men of The Chapel of Love Church. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
