Brother Sterling Hess,

Brother Earl Sterling Hess, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the original Founder and Pastor of Road Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was the son of the late Joseph Clyde Hess and Polly Prater Hess both Tazewell County natives. Born December 10, 1931 in Raven, VA he had made his home in the Road ridge area all his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Wayne Hess, five brothers, Ted, Balford, Arvil, Willie, and Earnie Hess., three sisters, Annie Brown, Cleo Craighead and Margaret Hess, Father and Mother-in-law, Glynn Underwood and Gertie C. Laws, two Son-in-laws, Dennis Wayne Hess and William Roger Ball. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Agnes Underwood Hess Two Sons: Earl Sterling Hess, Jr. and wife Gail of Raven, VA Timothy Hess and wife Lisa of Raven, VA Six Daughters: Linda Hess of Wilson, NC Brenda Hess of Shorts Gap, VA Betty Cook and husband Jody of Raven, VA Lucy Hess of the home Marie Hess of the home Vivian Franklin and husband Keith of Baptist Valley, VA Three Sisters: Mrs. Peggy Griffith of Raven, VA Mrs. Dolly Hamblin and husband Cecil of Glen Burnie, MD Mrs. Mary Richardson and husband David of Swords Creek, VA Three Brothers: Dalice Hess and wife Barbara of Raven, VA Joe Hess and wife Linda of Baptist Valley, VA Jessee Hess and wife Joann of Raven, VA Grandchildren: Charlene Elswick, Earl Junior Hess and wife Stephanie, Christopher Taylor, Aaron Franklin, Aaron Ball, Samantha Hess, Joseph Ball, Timothy (T. J.) Hess, Rachel Hess, Zachary Franklin, and Emily Hess Great Grandchildren: Elliott Elswick, Hayden Elswick, Lindsey Aliese Hess and Corey Tuggle Special friends: Jack Miller, Randy Sanders, and Cecil Hamblin. Special friend and neighbor of 35 years, Thelma Osborne Special Thanks to Tamma Wright and Independent Home Care and Community Home Health and a very special thanks to Dr. James McVey and the 3rd Floor Nurses at Clinch Valley Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 2:00 p. m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel of Richlands, VA with Brother Cecil Hamblin and Brother Harold Street officiating. Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery, Richlands, VA. Pallbearers will be, Roger Brown, Randy Sanders, Dewey Knuckles, Scottie Richardson, Gary (Pete) Hess, Jody Cook, Tom Brown and Steve Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Jack Miller, Dr. James H. McVey, Wayne Owens, A. W. (June) Horton and David Richardson. Friends may call Sunday evening after 6:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
