Carmel (C.M.) Price

Mr. Carmel Meredith (C.M.) Price, age 88, of Doran, Virginia passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness. He was born in Ridgeview, West Virginia and was the son of the late Preston M. and Clara Estep Price. He had made his home in the Doran area since 1946 and was a retired Foreman and Electrician from Consol, Inc. He began his career in the mining industry as a coal operator of the Price Brothers Coal Company. In 1948, he and his brother, Rev. E.C. Price, established the Doran Wesleyan Church. He was involved in numerous activities for the church including being a Sunday School Teacher for over 67 years, a ministry in music, and attending district, regional, and national conferences in the Pilgrim Holiness, Wesleyan, and Methodist Churches. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia where he was a teacher for the Seekers Sunday School Class. He was a member and past president of the Tazewell West Camp of Gideon International. He was a member of UMWA Local #6025 Bishop, Virginia and was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita Price Butcher; Three sons, Carroll Eugene Price, Claude Marvin Price, and Carmel Meredith Price, II; One Sister, Jewell Hurst; and Two Brothers, Rev. E.C. Price and wife, Pauline and Coy H. Price. Survivors are: His Wife of 67 years, Juanita Carroll Price Three Daughters: Claity and husband, Charles E. Massey of Buffalo, New York Clara and husband, Cecil D. Thompson of Doran, Virginia Sherry and husband, Terry Sanders of Doran, Virginia Three Sisters: Doris Lane, Nina Walton, Janet and husband, James Vickers all of Barrett, West Virginia Nine Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren, and One Great Great Grandchild also survive. The family would like to give special recognition of granddaughter, Cynthia Shelton and her sons, Joshua and Jordan and granddaughter Cecilia Thompson for their extra care and support. Funeral services for Carmel Meredith Price will be conducted Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. David Brannock and Dr. Charles E. Massey officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00pm at the O.A. Estep Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeview, West Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Don Butcher, Sam Sanders, Andy Parris, Joey Shelton, Justin Shelton, Joshua Shelton, Jordan Shelton, Will Shelton, Jacobo Vega Albela, and Tommy Akers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Seekers Sunday School Class and the Tazewell West Camp of Gideon International. Friends may call after 6:00pm Friday evening at the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia.
