Cathy Lynn Compton

Cathy Lynn Compton, age 64, of Swords Creek, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on May, 24, 2022, in her home following her battle with cancer. She was a beloved spouse, mother, grand-mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Cathy was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Iles and Avis Pruitt Boyd of Horton Ridge, Virginia. Cathy enjoyed gardening and blooms were plentiful at her home for most of the year. She also enjoyed time spent quilting with friends and family. She was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. She made her house a home and loved to welcome guests with a home-cooked meal and a delicious dessert. She could always recommend a good book. Cathy was a graduate of Honaker High School Class of 1976. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Boyd of Huntersville, NC. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Brent Compton; daughter, Jenna Compton of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and grand-daughter, Hayley, of Myrtle Beach as well. Cathy is survived by her siblings, Patricia Hughes (Jiles), Trainey Walker (Ric), Terry Osborne (Cliff), Christine Reynolds (Chris), and Jerald Boyd (Tressia). She is also survived by her father-in-law Connell Compton (Shirley) and sister-in-law Diana Renfro (Mike). Funeral services for Cathy Lynn Compton will be conducted on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 12:00pm at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Josh Savage officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Barry Sigmon, Barry White, John Dye, Johnny Brown, Rick Jessee, and Stewart Hancock. The family will begin receiving friends on Saturday at 11:00am prior to the funeral.
