Charles Melvin Whitt

Charles Melvin Whitt, age 62 of Rocky Gap, VA died Monday, March 28, 2016 at his home. He was born January 19, 1954 at Richlands, VA and was a son of the late Thomas C. and June Harrison Whitt. Charles attended Richlands High School and was a Graduate of Woodrow Wilson Technical College in Fishersville, VA. Mr. Whitt had worked for over forty years as a Barber and he was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed playing golf and riding 4-wheelers. Mr. Whitt was a member of the Grace Independent Baptist Church in Bluefield, WV, where he had served as trustee for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Edward Whitt, Marvin Lee Whitt and Lawrence Wayne Whitt. Those who survive to cherish his memories include his wife of forty-two years, Cathy Whitt; two daughters, Christy Whitt and Sheila of Wytheville, VA and Constance Whitt of Christiansburg, VA; three sisters, Cathy Bales of Raven, VA, Bernice Lester of Cedar Bluff, VA and Regina Smith – Campbell and husband, Randy of Marion, OH; one brother, Harry Whitt of Bandy, VA; sister in law, Ora Whitt, widow of Thomas Edward Whitt; one granddaughter, Reagan Collins Moulder; best friends Rodney Lambert, and Bobby Whited; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. Funeral services for Charles Melvin Whitt will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. George Stamper officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitt Family Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, VA. Pallbearers will be Josh Whitt, Jimmy Whitt, Austin Smith, Randy Campbell, Billy Bandy and Bobby Whited. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Lambert and Tony Graham. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
