Charlotte Dye Helton

Charlotte Dye Helton, age 77, of Yazoo City, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. Dominics Jackson Memorial Hospital. Charlotte was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Graham and Mamie West Dye. She was a 1959 graduate of Richlands High School. She lived in Richlands, Virginia before moving to Mississippi in 1964 with her husband. Her husband had the opportunity to make a little more money working for a grocery business in Yazoo City. She worked alongside her husband in the grocery business from doing everything in the early days from wrapping meat and checking groceries to keeping the books and making deposits. Through lots of hard work and smart business decisions, the Helton’s became leaders in Yazoo City’s business community. They also began a family tradition as they taught their sons about hard work and making wise investments. “She has really been the one to keep the wheels on the Helton wagon.” These were the words used by Kennith Helton when he described his wife Charlotte’s role in guiding their family in establishing their roots in the Yazoo City community. She had a large impact on Yazoo City’s business community and the local economy. She deserves a great deal of credit for the family’s success. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church. Through the years, Mrs. Helton gave back to her community and her church, and she was proud to call Yazoo home. She will be missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margueritte Stevenson; and a brother, Harold Dye. She was survived by: Her husband, Kennith W. Helton Sons: A.G. Helton and wife, Missy Kevin Helton and wife, Liz of Yazoo City Six grandchildren, four great grandchildren Brothers: Donald Dye of Richlands, VA Charles Richard Dye of Hattiesburg Sister: Anna Dye Weeks of Grey, GA Several nieces and nephews also survive along with a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Charlotte Dye Helton were held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Yazoo City with Dr. Clint Ritchie officiating. will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019. Raymon Jackson, II, Graham Helton, Kendall Gregory, Steve Mitchell, Steven Weeks, and Emmitte Lawson served as pallbearers.
