Clarence Edward Lowe

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Edward Lowe on March 18th, 2025 at the age of 85. He was a guiding light in our lives, a source of unwavering love, wisdom, and strength. Clarence lived a life full of purpose, hard work and most importantly, ministry. Whether it was through his work as a coal miner or mining inspector, a lifetime of preaching and pastoring, or the simple moments spent laughing around the dinner table sharing stories, he touched the lives of so many. He loved his family, and he loved his church. It never ceased to amaze anyone listening when he would tell of his lifelong adventures. Maybe it would be about his 4 years of service in the US Army, maybe a bit about his brief stint as a boxing champion, perhaps even a little nugget about all the places he had traveled, but it always left you wanting to hear more. He could fix anything and would help you fix yours too. Whether it be helping to build a new deck, getting an old car running again, or completely remodeling a house from the ground up, when there was work to be done, he was the first to show up and the last to leave. His laughter was warm, his embrace was a safe place, and his advice was always just what we needed…whether we liked it or not. He was a musician, an electrician, a scholar, a planner, but all this pales in comparison to his greatest achievement, he lives on as an unwavering man of God. Clarence was more than just a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend; he was our family's compass. No matter how lost we felt, he was a beacon of light that helped us find our way, offering direction not just in words, but in the way he lived his life, with kindness, integrity, and as an endless well of patience. His steady presence reminded us of what truly mattered: love, family, and faith. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sherman and Lillie Mae Lowe, brothers James and Lawrence Lowe, sisters Goldie Keen and Dolly Whited, son Alan Lowe and great granddaughter Lady Willow Fae. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Beulah Lowe, his children Kevin (and wife) Kim Lowe, and Susan (and husband) Kenny Lowe, his grandchildren Crystal Lowe, Paige Rees, Savanna Blevins, Keaton Lowe and Ashton Lowe, great grandchildren Piper Neeley, Kole Rees, Brayden and Madelyn Blevins, and Easton Lowe, many nieces and nephews, along with countless others whose lives were made richer simply by knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his guidance and love remain, continuing to light our way as we move forward. Funeral services for Clarence Edward Lowe will be conducted Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lonnie Perkins and Rev. Kevin Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 until 9:00 PM on Wednesday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Members of the UMWA District 17 Sub-28 Chaplain Corps will conduct honors prior to the service. Lake Park Freewill Baptist Church will be providing a dinner after services where all are welcome to attend. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
