Clarence Square" Bandy

Mr. Clarence William “T Square” Bandy, Jr. age 88 went to be with the Lord, May 19, 2010 at the Golden Age Retirement Home with his family at his side. He leaves behind a host of family and friends to cherish his memory. Mr. Bandy was born March 15, 1922 and was the son of the late Clarence William and Della Jones Bandy of the Seabord Community. Clarence attended Seabord Elementary School before going to Richlands High School where he played football for K.M. (Ernie) Hicks. Upon graduation he was drafted into the army where he served with Patton’s Third Infantry in World War II. He was a highly decorated soldier. At the conclusion of the war, Mr. Bandy entered Emory and Henry College. When he graduated from College, Clarence taught math, science and drafting at Richlands High School and retired at the age of 65. He also sold many football and basketball tickets as well as manning the stadium gates until his retirement. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Viola, Willie Marie and Darlis Jacqueline and a brother, Richard Sanders. His beloved wife of sixty-two years, Nell Bandy, preceded him in death January 30, 2010. Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his spirit are: His daughter, Donna Murray and husband Dwight of Cedar Bluff, VA Granddaughter, Natasha Dula and husband Phillip of Richlands, VA Great-granddaughter, Skyla Sage Dula of Richlands, VA Sisters, Golda Conley of Murfreesboro, Tennessee Frances Terry of Colonial Heights , Virginia Funeral Services for Mr. Bandy will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Carl Howell, Woodrow Mullins and Bill Dean Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Ray Vandyke, Bob West, Mike Schulte, Tom Murray, Bruce Russell, George Brown, Doug Steele, Jim Steele, Roger Murray, Woodrow Mullins, Bill D. Smith and Bill Alicie. Honorary pallbearers will be Becky Davis and his caregivers at Golden Age Retirement Home as well as the elders and deacons of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Full Military Rites will be conducted by Casey-Shortt Post# 9640 and Masonic Rites will be performed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening by the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge# 260 A.F. & A.M.
