Clarissa Dawn Rose

Clarissa Dawn “Mousey” Rose was the most beautiful and kind person. She came into this world on April 6, 1983, no bigger than a tiny mouse…earning her the nickname “Mousey”given to her by her Aunt Patsy Hilbert. She was a fighter. She loved ferociously and fearlessly her two beautiful daughters, Jayda and Cora Slate. She never met a horse or animal she didn’t like, nor one that didn’t like her more. Mousey always wore the brightest smile and was an avid nature lover. She left this world far too soon, leaving behind her mother, Teresa Mullins and her father, Jimmy Mullins. Although the youngest and tiniest sibling, she has left behind an immense hole that will never be filled for her sister Cassandra Nicole “Nonnie” Jones and brother, Christopher “Bubby” Rose. She was a loving sister-in-law to Corey Jones and Laytoya Rose. She will be missed terribly by all of her nieces, Ky’Anna “KyKy” and Kaneysha “Neyshie” Jones, nephews, Quan Jones, Malachi “Tippy” Rose, and Darius “Chunk” Rose. They all loved their “Hillbilly Aunt.” She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John W. and Virginia Wright; paternal grandfather, Jimmie Junior Mullins; and grandmother, Betty Bucklen; niece, Destiny Nichole Jones; and special aunt, Patsy Hilbert. As well as her parents, siblings, and daughters, she is survived by the father of her children, Derek Slate of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; paternal grandmother, Leola Joyce Mullins of Pea Patch, Virginia; uncles, Terry L. Wright and wife, Kim of Franklinton, NC; Samuel Wright and wife, Vanessa of Fort Bragg, NC; Billy Wright of Bandy, Virginia; Daniel Wright of Bandy, Virginia; and James Mullins and wife, April of Blacksburg, Virginia. Aunts: Odetta Altizer and husband, Glen of Bristol, Virginia and Susie Mullins of Raven, Virginia. She leaves behind to mourn her loss many other loving family members and friends. Funeral services for Clarissa Dawn “Mousey” Rose will be conducted Monday, February 14, 2022, at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lawrence Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at the Whittaker Ridge Family Cemetery near Bandy, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: RaeQuan Jones, Zack Moore, Corey Jones, Allen Hilbert, Tanner Johnson, Chris Johnson, Terry Wright, Sammy Wright, Josh Hilbert, and Allen Hilbert, II.
