Claude Dotson

Mr. Claude Taze Dotson, age 57, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 in a Kingsport, Tennessee hospital. He was born in Russell County and was the son of the late Orbra and Madie Crabtree Dotson. He had made his home in the Swords Creek area most of his life and was a former electrician for Consol VP#3, having worked for over 26 years. He was a member of the UMWA, the Horton Ridge Church of God, and the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF & AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Evyleen Honaker and two brothers, Woodrow and Buster Dotson. Survivors are: His Wife: Connie Dotson One Daughter: Shannon Dotson of Wise, Virginia One Son: Joshua Dotson and wife, Rebeckah of Swords Creek, Virginia Five Sisters: Areybell Boyd and husband, Eddie of Honaker, Virginia Mary Sue Artrip and husband, Cecil of Lebanon, Virginia Bonnie Lou Massie and husband, Oscar of Cleveland, Virginia Susie Ann Berry and husband, Ronald of Cleveland, Virginia Rosa Gross of Jacksonville, Florida Two Brothers: Jimmy Dotson and wife, Sandy of Manassas Park, Virginia Herbert Dotson and wife, Louise of Appalachia, Virginia Two Grandchildren: Alexia Dotson and Colter Dotson also survive. Funeral services for Claude Dotson will be conducted Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment will follow at the Christian Family Cemetery on Robinson Ridge near Swords Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Eddie Boyd, James Dotson, Paul Christian, Glen White, Hassel Miller, Butch Miller, Rocky Miller, and Lane Robinson. Friends may call after 6:00pm Wednesday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia. Masonic services will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7:00pm by the Richlands Masonic Lodge #318 AF & AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
