Claude Dye

Claude Dye, age 91, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Swords Creek, Virginia and was the son of the late Marshall and Carrie Hess Dye. He had made his home in the Jewell Ridge area most of his life and was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA Local #7327. Claude was an Elder at the Jewell Ridge Presbyterian Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Reka Aliese Dye; daughter, Linda Crabtree; sisters, Eunice Cordle, Delcie Dye, and Judy Dye; and brothers, Donald and Luther Dye. Survivors are: Daughters: Trish Farmer and husband, Edward of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Carolyn Short and husband, Tom of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Denise Tolliver and husband, Jim of Raven, Virginia Son in Law: Virgil Crabtree Sisters: Doris Corns of Honaker, Virginia Wanda Richardson and husband, Fred of Rosedale, Virginia Connie Richardson and husband, Daniel of Honaker, Virginia Brothers: Dolphus Dye and wife, Wilma of Swords Creek, Virginia Cecil Dye and wife, Margaret of Rosedale, Virginia Danny Dye and wife, Ellen of Swords Creek, Virginia Ronnie Dye and wife, Sharon of Swords Creek, Virginia Sister-In-Law: Doris Dye Grandchildren: Will Crabtree and wife, Crystal; Stephanie Hess and husband, Earl; Thomas Short and wife, Kim; Amy Spencer and husband, Randy; Julie Breeding and husband, Brannon; Katie Patton and husband, Brian; Tommi Tolliver and Jeff Greenway; and Cortney Farmer Richardson and husband, Brian Great Grandchildren: Corey and fiance, Tori, Lindsey, Colten, Hannah, Madison, Destiny, Halle, T.J., Noah, Parker, Patrick, Brice Ann, Brock, and Kennedy Great-Great Grandchild: Liam Tuggle Special Care Giver: Joann Horn Special Family Friend: Betty Smith Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Claude Dye will be conducted Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 2pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Malcolm Stuart and Rev. Buddy Herald officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Thomas Short, Will Crabtree, Brannon Breeding, Randy Spencer, Brian Richardson, Brian Patton, TJ Short, Colten Hess, Noah Spencer, Parker Spencer, Patrick Spencer, Brock Breeding, Corey Tuggle, Jeff Greenway, and Liam Tuggle.
