Cody Patrick Thomas

It is with great sadness that the family of Cody Patrick Thomas announces his passing following an automobile accident on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Cody will be lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him. He was born on March 19, 1993 in Richlands, Virginia to his loving parents, Kenny and Marsha Harman Thomas. He was a brother in blue…a Richlands Tornado Football player. He played ball with all his heart and soul. Cody was a 2011 graduate from Richlands High School. He then went on to attend Southwest Virginia Community College and worked for Omega Corporation as a truck driver. He was a selfless and giving young man whose infectious smile is imprinted on the mind’s eye of all who knew him. As Cody’s fingers strummed life into his guitar, you knew he felt the music in his heart. His greatest love though was fishing. He would have made an excellent professional fisherman. Any chance he had to hit the lake, he took it. He had lived his entire life in the Richlands area and always lived, loved and laughed as much as he could. He was the kind of man that anyone will be proud to call, son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Herbert Harman and Troy Thomas. Those who remain to carry on his spirit and cherish his memory are: His parents, Kenny and Marsha Harman Thomas of Jewell Ridge, VA He will forever be in his sister’s heart, Brandi Thomas His precious grandmothers, Virginia Harman and Dorothy Vance Cody will lovingly be remembered by his special friends, Nikki and Josie Honaker, Andi, Abby and Avery Penny along with his brothers in blue. He has numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and special friends who loved him dearly. An eternal prayer in Cody’s heart will be: Lord, grant me the peace of a cool quite stream, where calm and contentment reign supreme, here in solitude let me bide, passing the day at the water side, all I ask is a rod, line and lure and a fish I'm willing to wait for, down by the river my thought is unfurled and I'm happy at heart and at peace with the world. A Celebration of his life will be on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Ministers Tony Shrader and Kevin McGlothlin officiating. Pallbearers will be his dear friends, Will Lowe, Tanner Smith, Todd Smith, Jack Vance, Pooh Hilbert and Taylor Wade. The family will begin receiving friends at 5:00 pm on Friday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
