Connie De’Reene Harman, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and gifted singer, went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and unwavering dedication to her Savior and her family. Connie’s life was forever changed in February 1970 when she became a Christian, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that shaped every aspect of her life. She was a passionate servant of God, deeply involved in ministry and committed to spreading His word. She was the founder of the Richlands Tabernacle choir, a director of the first Richlands Youth Camp, the founder of the Ladies Retreat in the Smokies, graduated with honors in Theology Biblical Studies from Liberty University at the age of 70, and a faithful member of Richlands Tabernacle for over five decades. Known as a fierce warrior for God, Connie stood boldly for her beliefs, never wavering in her commitment to truth and righteousness. Connie was a devoted advocate for mission work, dedicating her life to spreading faith and compassion across the world. Alongside her husband Cody, she played a vital role in financially supporting the building of over 20 churches in Panama, creating lasting places of worship for countless communities. Her generosity extended far beyond, as she faithfully supported missions throughout Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Haiti, and indigenous tribes such as the Cuna Indians. Connie’s unwavering commitment to ministry touched lives across borders, leaving a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to inspire generations to come. Beyond her ministry, Connie had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for travel. She explored 40 countries and 39 states across the U.S., always embracing the beauty and diversity of God’s creation. Connie always stood out and dressed differently from all others on these journeys. She would get the opportunity to spread the love of Jesus when people would approach her about her clothing. Once she shared with one young married couple the secret to a long marriage was putting God first in everything they did. She was always about bringing the ministry wherever she went. She was a loving wife to her husband, Cody Harman, and a devoted mother to her children: Julie Tharp (husband Daniel Tharp), her late daughter Jennifer Horton (husband David Lee Horton), and Wade Harman (wife Erica Harman). She was a cherished grandmother to Stacey Horton, Sydney Horton, Haley Tharp, Eli Harman, and Owen Harman. Connie shared an unbreakable bond with her sisters. She was preceded in death by her sister Chris Wolhford and is survived by her beloved sister Pat Smith. The three were inseparable throughout their lives, building a beautiful friendship that was a testament to love and sisterhood. Her life was marked by love, strength, and service. Those who knew her will remember her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family and church, and the way she poured her heart into everything she did. Though she is no longer with us, Connie’s influence will endure in the lives she touched. She fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). Since February 1970, Connie had been preparing for the journey of a lifetime. On April 1st, 2025, she finally arrived at her long-awaited destination, making Heaven her eternal home. Her last mile has been traveled and Heaven has become sweeter. She is deeply missed but joyfully welcomed into her eternal home. Funeral services for Connie De’Renene Harman will be conducted Friday, April 4, 2025 at 3 pm at the Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, Virginia with Pastor Roger Boyd, Rev. Travis Hackworth, and Rev Wade Harman officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Robert Harman, Jason Schuler, David Vance, David L. Horton, Bill Harrison and Keith Cordle. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Richlands Tabernacle men's adult Sunday school class. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening April 3, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Richlands Tabernacle.
