Cordie Lester

Ms. Cordie Mae Lester, age 85, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at a local area hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Tazewell County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late, James Matthew and Pearl Caudell Asbury. She had attended the College Hill School in Cedar Bluff and was a dedicated mother and spent her life to caring for her family in addition to working for 17 years in the Kitchen of Clinch Valley Hospital. She attended the Full Gospel Temple and was a lifetime resident of the area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Homer Carl Lester; daughter Brenda Lester; sons Bill Lester and Donald Lester; Half Brothers, Jim, Earnest and Walker Asbury, James Lowe and John Mulkey; Half-Sisters: Ollie Asbury, Bessie Asbury, Rose Asbury, Sally Asbury, Mary Lowe She is survived by : Sons: Roger Lester and wife Brenda of Wardell, VA Danny Lester and wife Judy of Wardell, VA Lonnie Lester and wife Diane of Pine Creek, VA Darrell Lester and wife Sue of Doran, VA Daughters: Virginia Rose and Dudley of Machipongo, VA Betty Duty and Leo of Cedar Bluff, VA Bonnie Vandyke and husband Bobby of Keen Mountain, VA Alice Lester of Cedar Bluff, VA Sister: June Asbury Lester Half Sister, Dorothy Lester, 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren also survive her along with a host of friends and family. Special caregivers Roger and Brenda Lester, Shirley Shelton, Linda Mahone, Richlands Home Health, Legacy Hospice and staff. Funeral services for Cordie Lester will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Tony Shrader officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Jackie Lester, Leo Duty, II, Richard Rose, Scotty Lester, Billy Sullivan and Michael Horton. Son-in-laws will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
