Danny E Brown

Mr. Danny Eugene Brown, age 66 of Sanford, Florida, formerly of Richlands, Virginia was surrounded by his loving family as he gently drew his last breath on Sunday, October 27, 2013 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late Audney and Virginia Dawson Brown. Danny was a graduate of Richlands High School class of 1966. After graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Danny had learned to play the trumpet in high school and was presented with the John Phillip Sousa Award and continued to play while in the Army. He considered it a great honor to play taps at a soldier’s funeral. He enjoyed playing softball, shooting pool and trips to the Casino. He was a loving father and grandfather who had worked for the Railroad and later in life as a factory worked in an industrial plant. Danny loved to spend time with his family and just doing his own thing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Brown. He is survived by his: Daughter: Allison Smith and husband, Stephen of Sanford, FL Sons: Travis Lee Brown of Hillsville, VA John Michael Brown and wife, Hope of Great Falls, Montana His pride and joy were his four grandchildren, Cody, Dallas, Seth and Savanna Smith. Funeral services for Danny Eugene Brown will be conducted at 3:00 on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Stafford Compton officiating. Interment will follow at the Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be John “Hoppie” Brown, Jr., Brian Robinette, Daniel Robinette, Jr., Matt Spencer, Dave Williamson and Chance Lawhorn. Honorary pallbearer will be Rick “Radar” Smith. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00pm till time of service at 3:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
