David Edd Mitchell

David Edward “Edd” Mitchell, age 76, of the Jewell Valley section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 on Compton Mountain. He was born in Jewell Valley and was the son of the late Clarence and Julia Vandyke Mitchell. He was a lifelong resident of the Jewell Valley area and was a former employee of Pittston Coal Company at Jewell Valley Service Station. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dora Elsie Lowe; and three brothers, James Paul, Thomas Clyde, and William Claude Mitchell. Survivors are: His Wife of 49 years: Alpha Omega Lowe Mitchell Daughters: Susan Kaye Bryant and husband, Barry of Roanoke, Virginia Barbara Ann Lundy and husband, Pete of Compton Mt., Virginia Sons: William Edward “Eddie” Mitchell and wife, Tamy of Piedmont, SC Kenneth Eugene “Kenny” Mitchell and wife, Tonia of Reynolds Ridge, Virginia Sisters: Mazie Baldwin and husband, Arnold “Toby” of Salem, Virginia Dorothy Mutter of Salem, Virginia Brother in Law: Carlton Lowe and wife, Betty of Thompson Valley, Virginia; Sisters in law: Martha Lowe of Annandale, Virginia, Margaret Cochran and husband, Wayne of Bluefield, WV; and Mollie Swicegood and husband, Joel of Fairfax, Virginia. Grandchildren: James Mitchell, Alexzandra Mitchell, Hannah Bryant, Benjamin Bryant, Morgan Mitchell, Justin Mitchell, Braydon Mitchell, and Elan Lundy His Furbaby: Little Girl and a host of nieces and nephews and friends and family also survive. Funeral services for Edd Mitchell will be conducted Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Jay Cole and Rev. Jimmie Cole officiating. Interment will follow at the Knob Cemetery on Pea Patch near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Tim Clifton, Hunter Clifton, Eric Underwood, James Mitchell, Benjamin Bryant, Justin Mitchell, Braydon Mitchell, Elan Lundy, Rocky Cole, Tommy Mitchell, and Jamie Hackworth. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ernest Breeden, Dr. Swan, Dr. Bender, Buford Mitchell, Perry Woosley, Bill Turner, Hobart Mitchell, Troy Adams, and Pete Mitchell.
