D.C. Jessee

Mr. D.C. "Crickett" Jessee, age 88, of 302 Grove Street, Richlands, Virginia passed away Tuesday morning, May 24, 2005 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Cartertown, Virginia and was the son of the late Charlie Benson and Jeanannie Nash Jessee both Russell County natives. He lived most of his life in the Richlands, Virginia area. He Retired from Norfolk and Western where he worked for 45 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Richlands for over 60 years and was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Smith Jessee. Seven Brothers: Grady, Jack, Beecher, Slemp, Oscar, Paul and Junior. Four sisters: Blanche Sutherland, Lake Skeens, Gladys Robinson and Jeanette Zachella. Two sons-in-law: William Jennings and David Sargent. Survivors are: Daughters: Mrs. Russell (Nancy) Joyce of Richlands, Virginia Mrs. Larry (Margaret) Bailey of Mooresville, North Carolina Mrs. Emily Jennings of Jackson, Mississippi Mrs. Greta Sargent of Paintlick, Virginia Son: Mr. Andy Jessee and wife, Emily of Orlando, Florida Grandchildren: Pamela Oates, Beverly Simmons, Nicholas Sargent, Kayla Sargent, Mark Joyce, Billy Jennings, Jonathan Jennings, Joseph Jennings, Jessica Jennings, Karen Hale, Lori Ringstaff, Tina Wiggins, and Christopher Jessee. Great-Grandchildren: Nathaniel Ringstaff, Reece Ringstaff, Gregory Fox, Lauren Wiggins, Caleb Jessee, Alec Jessee, Charles Hale, Zachary Hale, Max Jennings, Kelly Simmons and Vanessa Simmons. One Great-Great Grandson: Logan Simmons Funeral Services for Mr. D.C. "Crickett" Jessee will be conducted on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. David Brannock officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers and all other Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Friends may call Thursday evening after 6:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
