Dennis Joel Cordle

Dennis Joel Cordle, age 66, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1949 to the late Luther “Brownie” and Dolores “Ma Dee” Whitt Cordle. Mr. Cordle was a 1968 graduate of Richlands High School and was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area. Dennis was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a former employee of Southwest Supply and worked Seaboard #2. He was a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents: Walter and Minnie Cordle and Billy and Lula Whitt; his brother-in-law: Danny Smith; and his nephew: Jeffrey Scott Smith. Those left to cherish his memory include: Caregiver and Former Wife: Peggy Ann Farmer of Raven, Virginia Daughters: Angie Comfort and husband, Bobby of Ashland City, Tennessee Sarah Kehoe and husband, Shawn of Reinbeck, Iowa Son: Chris Cordle and wife, Jennifer of Raven, Virginia Sisters: Teresa Jane Strouth of Raven, Virginia Susie Lowe and husband, Marvin of Raven, Virginia Brother: Randall Cordle and wife, Cathy of Baptist Valley, Virginia. 8 Grandchildren: Jeffrey Madar, Hannah Madar, Justin Comfort, Brittany Comfort, Stephanie Kehoe, Alex Kehoe, Chandler Cordle, and Chase Cordle 2 Great Grandchildren: Olivia Comfort and Kennedy Comfort. Funeral services for Dennis Joel Cordle will be conducted at 7PM on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverends Danny Altizer, Buddy Herald, Rick Whitt, and Claudie Throgmartin officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:00PM on Monday evening. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 2PM at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Entombment will follow. Pallbearers will be Chandler Cordle, Christian Smith, Daniel Smith, Jonathan Lowe, Jeffrey Madar, Justin Comfort, David Farmer, and Cotton Patterson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alex Kehoe, Stephanie Kehoe, Chase Cordle, Matthew Lowe, Adam Cordle, Hannah Madar, Brittany Comfort, Becky Patterson, and his great nieces and nephews.
