Donald Elkins

Donald Lee Elkins, age 71 of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late Quenton and Willie Lowe Elkins. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was the part owner of Elkins Garage in Richlands, Virginia for the past 50 years. He was a Richlands High School Class of 1959 graduate and had attended Washington County Technical School in Abingdon, Virginia. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and was a charter member of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640; a member of Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 628 Princeton, WV; a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter #59 Grundy, Virginia; and a member of the American Legion Post in Tazewell, Virginia. Survivors are: His Wife: Jean Brown Elkins Two Daughters: Karen Elkins Pruitt and husband, Chris of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Donna Elkins Alley and husband, Tracy of Richlands, Virginia One Brother: Bob Elkins and wife, Gayle of Raven, Virginia Grandchildren: Kayla Elkins McClanahan and husband, Aaron; Nikki Elkins; Lauren Honeycutt; and Logan Blake Honeycutt One Nephew: Robbie Elkins and wife, Crystal of Raven, Virginia Great Niece: Tiarra Elkins Great Nephew: Tanner Elkins Special Friend, Danny Nelson Funeral services for Donald Lee Elkins will be conducted Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Buddy Herald officiating. Entombment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum at Richlands, Virginia. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be: Logan Blake Honeycutt, Tracy Alley, Chris Pruitt, Danny Nelson, Aaron McClanahan, Robbie Elkins, Tanner Elkins, Leroy Nelson, and Chris Lemler. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Earl Sargent, Sam Grose, Carl Lawson, Hurley Absher, Gordon Mullins, Roy Horn, Darrell Meade, Rick Kimbrell, and Sammy Craig.
