Douglas M. Bogle

Douglas M. Bogle, age 72 of the Hogback community of Tazewell County, VA died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA. Born January 14, 1946 on Peel Chestnut Mountain in Pocahontas, VA he was a son of the late Okie Harris Bogle and Vangie Mitchell Bogle. He had worked for many years as a coal miner with Island Creek Coal. Mr. Bogle was a man who had a great sense of humor and personality. He enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, carpentry, tinkering with cars and being with his grandchildren. He was a family man through and through; to know him was to love him. He loved life, but loved Jesus more; he was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kelly Hagerman and Matthew Bogle; son-in-law, Ryan Keene; sisters, Ruby Duerason and Martha Hurd; brothers, Lloyd Bogle and Fred Bogle. Survivors include his loving wife, Mildred Louise Bogle; children, Rita K. Hagerman and husband, Jerry of Narrows, VA, Steven Bogle and wife, Jennifer of Bandy, VA, Charles Bogle and wife, Tammy of Stony Ridge, VA, Crystal G. Keene and fiancée, Tony Gearheart of Bluefield, VA, Randy Bogle and wife, Melissa of Dry Fork, VA and Tommy Davis of North Tazewell, VA’ step-children, Teresa Turnmire and husband, Danny of Vale, NC, Franklin Hess and wife, Todie of Lenoir, NC, Earnie Hess and wife, Regina of Morganton, NC and Debbie “Punkie” Holtzclaw and husband, Tim of Granite Falls, NC; sisters, Della Hollins and husband, Emory of Elliston, VA and Bonnie Mullins and husband, Danny of Kent, OH; brother, Harry Lee Bogle of Liberty, VA; grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Hagerman, Jacob Bogle, Oliver and Gabriel Keene, Andrew and Miranda Bogle; step-grandchildren, Jessica Mitchem, Stephanie Williams, Brandon Flanner, Justin Hess, Elijah and Joshua Hess; special sister-in-law, Marguerite “Margo” Hess of Cedar Bluff, VA; the mother of his biological children, Daisy Bogle of North Tazewell, VA; the staffs of the Oncology and Radiology Departments at Clinch Valley Medical Center; several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastors Jesse Estep, Jerry Hagerman and Danny Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery in Thompson Valley, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Greever Asbury. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, April 6, 2018.
