Edith Blankenship

Mrs. Edith Irene Blankenship, age 86 of Richlands, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 25, 2005 at her home following a lengthy illness. Born March 17, 1919 at Belfast, Virginia she was the daughter of the late R.W. and Lucille Fogleman Settle both Russell County, Virginia natives. Mrs. Blankenship lived in the Cedar Bluff and Richlands area all of her adult life. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated member of the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church for more than 65 years. She was a loving and faithful wife for 54 years to her late husband Earl W. Blankenship. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Warren H. and Garrett T. Settle and one great-great grandchild. Survivors are: Son: Herley E. Blankenship and wife, Betty Lou Daughter: Gwendolyn "Dottye" Bennington Sister: Elizabeth Monk of Lebanon, Virginia 6 Grandchildren: Mary Ann Keene and husband, Randy Tereasa "Terrie" Basham and husband, Tommy Sherri Cherie Blankenship Nita Hess and husband, Bill Robin McGlothlin and husband, Darrell Thomas Earl Blankenship and wife, Michelle Great - Grandchildren: Lindsey Croston and husband, Jonathan; Joshua Keene; Brandi Smith and husband, Scott; Jeremy Keene; Sara Creppel; Austin Hess; Eric Hess; Luke Creppel and Grace Noel Blankenship Special friend and caregivers: Wanda Stacey, Christina Hess and Michelle Carter Funeral Services for Mrs. Edith Irene Blankenship will be conducted Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church in Cedar Bluff, Virginia with the Rev. Jackie Strickler and Ret. Col. Sandra S. Whitt officiating.. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Thomas Blankenship, Joshua Keene, Jeremy Keene, Eric Hess, Austin Hess and Luke Creppel. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Tommy Basham, Randy Keene, Bill Hess and Darrell McGlothlin. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service Sunday at the church.
