Edward William Asbury

Edward William Asbury, age 70 of Bluefield, VA died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, WV. He was born January 3, 1944 at Tazewell, VA and was a son of the late Gus James Asbury and Beatrice Blair Bibey Asbury. He had worked several years for the Town of Tazewell; loved to garden and was avid about harvesting ginseng and other herbs. He was of the Pentecostal Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Reynolds Asbury; sisters, JoAnn Dye, and Betty Gregory; brothers, James Asbury, A.P. “Hoss" A. P. Asbury, Gus Glenn Asbury and Earnest Asbury. Survivors include his children, Troy Asbury, Margaret Stacy, Linda Puckett and husband, David, all of Tazewell, VA, Roy Asbury and wife, Tina of Springville, VA, Frances Hill and companion, Jerry Keen of Mudfork, VA, George Sorrell and wife, Patty of Waynesboro, VA and Linwood Reynolds of Bland County, VA; sisters, Linda Asbury of North Tazewell, VA and Dorothy Sparks and husband, Clarence of Dry Fork, VA; brothers, Roy Asbury and wife, Georgia of Tazewell, VA, Monroe Asbury and wife, Sylvia of Tennessee, and Jim Asbury of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren, Joshua and Christopher Corvin, Bryant and Monroe Flanagin, Mary, Kim, Johnathan and Donna Hill, Priscilla and William Lee Stacy, and Rebecca Viers Thompson; four very special great-grandchildren; special friends, Milisa Payne of Brushfork, WV and Linda Flanagin of Tazewell, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Edward William Asbury will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Joey Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, VA. Pallbearers will be Aaron Hayes, Joshua and Christopher Corvin, Larry Hodges, Doug Etter, Tim Griffith, Cody Cox, and Jerry Keen. Honorary pallbearer will be William Lee Stacy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014.
