Elizabeth Jackson

Elizabeth Matilda Jackson, 76, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, Virginia. Born in Charles City, Virginia, October 2, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Berry and Bernice Adkins. She was a retired teacher’s aide at Raven Elementary School, Tazewell County Public Schools, and was a resident of Mayfair Assisted Living, Claypool Hill. She was a member of the Open Door Community Church, the church choir, WIN, and was previously a Sunday School teacher. Elizabeth was a member of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe, Providence Forge, Virginia. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Milton Adkins; her second husband, William (Bill) McKinley Jackson; one son, Milton Allen Adkins; two sisters, two brothers; and other step-sisters and step-brothers. Those who survive her are: Her son, Neil H. Adkins and wife Helen of Richmond, VA Granddaughter, Aaliyah Adkins and one grandson Teron Adkins Sister, Beatrice Clancy, New York, NY Niece and care provider, Patsy Hankins of Richlands, VA Sisters-in-law Margaret Settle of Richlands, VA Hazel Harless of Johnson City, TN Rosa Guinn of Lynchburg, VA Diane Jackson of Charles City, VA Elaine Jackson of Mt. Juliet, TN Brother-in-law, Luther Jackson of Petaluma, CA Stepdaughters: Nancy Pace and Mary Lee Davis of Richmond, VA and Annette Jefferson of Duncan, OK Stepsons: Clinton (Carol) Jackson; David (Linda) Jackson; Billy (Evelyn) Jackson; Gene (Betty) Jackson; and Randy (Mary) Jackson, of the Richmond area; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Special caregivers are the staff of Mayfair and Clinch Valley Medical Center second floor staff, Dr. Mehmood, and Dr. Johnston. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charlie McGlothlin and Rev. Larry Ramey officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Clinton Jackson, David Jackson, Randy Jackson, Michael Wynkoop, Eddie Harless and Jesse Hankins. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Shamblin, Marvin Hankins, Becky Belcher, Jane Mulkey, and staff and residents of Mayfair Assisted Living.
