Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Pyott

Remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and servant of her community, Libby Pyott graduated Tazewell High School in 1957 and continued her education at Mary Washington College. After her marriage to Frank Pyott in 1958, Libby served her community as a secretary in the Tazewell County School System and an organist at North Tazewell United Methodist Church. Her competitive and opinionated nature was evident in her love for playing tennis, softball, and bowling in her younger years, and showed itself in her love for Duke basketball and Coach K. It was even more evident in her disdain for Virginia Tech, but her love for her husband led her to compromise and allow Virginia Tech equal billing with her Virginia porch flag. An enthusiast of all things sweet, in particular Dr. Pepper, Pina Coladas, and miniature 3 Musketeers, Libby always saved some sweetness for her pets including Bo, Riley, and her other cats. An avid gardener and homemaker, Libby always presented a beautiful home and garden, and always used her eye for beautiful details to ensure her hair, nails, and dress were always as impressive as her garden. Libby is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Pyott; parents Albert L. McCall, Sr. and Bess Neel McCall; brother Albert L. McCall, Jr. and Betty T. McCall; and granddaughter Amy Elaine McAleer. Libby is survived by her Brother Marshall Edwin McCall and wife Mary Ann of Lexington, Virginia; children Katherine Pyott Rutherford and her husband Charlie of Knoxville Tennessee; and Frank Bradley Pyott and wife Elaine of Tazewell, Virginia; as well as grandchildren Jordan Elizabeth Kay and husband David of Jackson, Mississippi; Rebecca Lauren Toler of Winchester Virginia; McCall Harrison Toler of Roanoke Virginia; Nathan John McAleer and wife Courtney; Frank Harrisson Pyott and Warner Grace Pyott of Tazewell, Virginia; as well as great-grandchildren Eamon McAleer and Nolan McAleer of Tazewell, Virginia. In addition to her wonderful legacy, her boundless humor and wit live on in her family and our memories. Libby is also survived by the beautiful music made and learned in over 20,000 piano lessons provided to students over the course of 47 years as a piano instructor. The family extends our heartfelt gratitude to Libby’s caretakers Charlotte, Gail, Mary, and Tamara, who dedicated their hearts, knowledge, and skill to care for Libby in her final years. Funeral Services for Mrs. Pyott will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Tazewell, VA with Rev. Anthony Grills and the Rev. Dr. Tom Conley officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Pallbearers will be Jeffery K. Mitchell, Dandridge C. Willis, Jonathan Stilwell, Andy Necessary, David Kay, and Steve Dean. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA.
