Elizabeth Stull

Elizabeth Lossie Stull, 85, died from congestive heart failure at her home surrounded by her loving family on December 7, 2014. Born April 28, 1929, in Richlands, she was the daughter of the late Carrie and Nelson Martin. Elizabeth graduated from Richlands High School in 1947 and after several years working at the Dixie Grocery and Guy’s Drive-In, she drove to Cheyenne, WY, to marry George Stull, a childhood friend who was an airman in the United States Air Force. This cross-country drive began the next chapter of her life as a military wife and mother, where every couple of years they moved a new base for their next assignment. After her husband’s death in 1973, Elizabeth settled with her children in central Missouri where they had been stationed twice previously. After taking a series of courses at State Fair Community College, she went to work at Unitog Manufacturing in a position that she held until she retired. She moved into Commonwealth Assisted Living in 2012, returning “home” after a 57-year journey, where her sister, Virginia Hagy, and niece, Rhonda Nease, devoted themselves to making sure that she continued to live a life filled with joy and laughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M/Sgt. George H. Stull, Jr., and sisters, Gloria Cardwell and Opal Burgess, brothers Marvin Wilson, Nelson J. Martin, Jr., and Winford Martin. Elizabeth is survived by Her daughter, Frances Reiser, and husband, Emil, of Bettendorf, IA; Her son, Gregg Stull, and partner, Brandon Prendergast, of Alexandria, VA. She also leaves two cherished grandchildren, Rheanna Marie Davis and husband, James, of Racine, WI, and EJ Reiser and wife, Jen, of Waukesha, WI, along with great grandchildren Bryleigh, Gentry, and Chase Davis. She leaves sisters Ruth Norman of Tazewell, VA; Virginia Hagy and husband, Glen, of Cedar Bluff along with nieces Rhonda Nease, Paula Jackson, Beth Norman, Rebecca Whittington, Jean Whittington, Sandra Bauman, Edwin Cardwell, Tommy Wilson, Jenny Ann Wilson, and Kay Francis Gialenios, as well as the devoted and loving caregivers of Commonwealth Assisted Living and Helping Hands Hospice. Funeral services for Elizabeth Stull will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Hurst Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA, with the Evangelist Bob Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
