Elizabetha Umbarger

Mrs. Elizabeth Juanita Umbarger, age 86, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Lake East Hospital in Painesville, Ohio. She was born December 20, 1922 in Iaeger, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Franklin D. and Euna Farley Bishop. She was a graduate of Concord College in Athens, West Virginia and was a former teacher with the McDowell County School System. She was a member of the United Methodist Church having taught Sunday School for more than 40 years in Iaeger, Grundy, and Richlands. At the time of her life, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richlands, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Geroge E. Umbarger; one brother, Marion Bishop; and one sister, Wilma Bishop Pascone. Survivors are: Two Daughters: Victoria Shamblin and husband, Richard of Painesville, Ohio Crystal Riddick and husband, Michael of Richmond, Virginia Four Sisters: Dolly Hume of Roanoke, Virginia Emma Lou Butler and husband, Sam of Iaeger, West Virginia Sue Howell and husband, Robert of Vinton, Virginia Dorothy Horn and husband, Huey of Pineville, West Virginia Three Brothers: Vestal “Beck” Bishop of Gilbert, West Virginia Franklin Bishop, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Ikes, West Virginia William Bishop and wife, Dee of Beckley, West Virginia Grandchildren: Andrea Lester of Painesville, Ohio; Jennifer Compton and husband, BJ of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; Sherryl Gross of Baptist Valley, Virginia; and Michael Riddick of Bear, Delaware Great Grandchildren: Zachary Lester, Brandon Lester and wife, Tiffany; Hope Compton, Jeff Compton, Faith Compton, Neveah Riddick Great Great Granddaughter: Kahlan Racheel Lester and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Elizabeth Juanita Umbarger will be conducted Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. David Brannock and Evangelist Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Brandon Lester, Zachary Lester, John Horn, Zeb Horn, Billy Hume, Matthew Bishop, Larry Brooks and B.J. Compton.
