Flora Jean Ratliff

Flora Jean Ratliff, age 93 of Tazewell, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at her home. She was born in Buchanan County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Annon Stiltner and Carrie Mullins Stiltner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Ratliff Sr.; Granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Ratliff; and three brothers, Edgar Stiltner, Clyde Stiltner, and Clarence Stiltner and one sister Christine Stiltner. Flo loved her family, her community, and Jesus. Her passions included teaching others about Jesus, farming, and demonstrating a true selflessness. Her smile and laugh were unforgettable. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a loving and devoted wife and married to John for 52 years. They often traveled together to explore this world. They loved Nascar and Florida and would often vacation there together. When not vacationing, they loved their farm life at home. Her children were a true source of happiness for her, and she loved being their mother. She loved sharing with everyone all of her grandchildren’s latest pictures and accomplishments. She was often seen at all of their sporting events, graduations, and big life moments. Her grandkids were the apple of her eye! Flo loved her community and spent many years pouring into the local 4-H chapter or local churches and businesses. Everyone knew her and was often touched by her generosity or kindness. To know her was to love her. She is survived by one daughter Alecia “Jeanie” Ratliff of Roanoke, Virginia and one son John W. Ratliff Jr and wife Sharon Jean Ratliff of Tazewell, Virginia. Her grandchildren include Amanda Amos and husband Jonathan of Roanoke, Virginia. Her Great Grandchildren include Hailie Jean Tiller and husband Nathan; Ava Amos; and Trevor Amos. Furthermore, one sister Geraldine “Maggie” Browning of Bluff City, Tennessee. Visitation for Flora Jean Ratliff will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia. A Funeral service will be immediately conducted afterwards at 2:00PM with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Entombment will be private and for immediate family only. Pallbearers will be Trevor Amos, Jonathan Amos, Nathan Tiller, Malcom Browning, Chris Browning, and Leon Stiltner.
